All About Art

 Art books

We’re learning all about famous paintings and famous painters.  We’re learning to express ourselves creatively.  And we’re having a lot of fun! These are some of our favorite books about art… (click on the titles for links to special stuff!)

I Spy Colors in Art, Lucy Micklethwait – Part of a great series of books introducing shapes, colors and letters through famous works of art.

No One Saw, and Artful Reading, Bob Raczka – Another series that highlights famous works.

Uncle Andy’s Cats, James Warhola – Andy Warhol’s nephew writes and illustrates his memories of visiting his Uncle Andy. Fun to read.

Olivia, Ian Falconer – Olivia is inspired by the work of Jackson Pollock. It does not end well. Kids love Olivia!

Elmer, David McKee – A colorful elephant learns it’s ok to be different.

I Ain’t Gonna Paint No More, Karen Beaumont – Fun to read out loud – a boy has lots of fun painting his parts. Be careful with this one!

Little Blue & Little Yellow, Leo Lionni – Little Blue and Little Yellow are such good friends they get all mixed up.

Mouse Paint, Ellen Stoll Walsh – Some mischievous mice show what happens when primary colors mix.
