Parent Orientation Info
Whether you’re new to MMO, or a veteran MMO parent, we want you to make sure you’re familiar with our policies and procedures. Your child’s teacher will have specific information related to their classroom, but here’s the general stuff you need to know:
Important Links
MMO Resources page – has links to the Sick Policy, calendar, and handbooks
Happy Goodbyes – dealing with Separation Anxiety
parentfiles – a website full of general “stuff parents need to know”
School Day/Early & After Care – School starts at 8:30 and ends at 12:00. Teachers are not available for children in the classrooms until 8:30. Early Care is available starting at 8:00 each morning, for a $5 charge. You do not need to sign up in advance for Early Care.
Children are ready to be picked up at 12 noon each day. Children who are not picked up by 12:05 will be taken to After Care in Fellowship Hall (Big Room), and you will be charged $5. All children must be picked up by 12:30. In the event that your child has not been picked up by 12:30, we will begin calling your emergency contacts until we find a designated person to pick up your child. If your child has not been picked up by 1:30, we will contact local police to help us locate an appropriate person to pick up your child – as required by DCFS.
If you are going to be late picking up your child, please call the office (356-7377) and let us know.
Parking Lot – Please review the Parking Lot information. Slow down, stay off your phone, be alert, and keep track of your children. NEVER leave children unattended in cars, or the parking lot. If you need help, please call and let us know.
Sick Policy – Please review the MMO Sick Policy. Basically, if your child is sick, you should keep her home. We do have a lot of runny noses, which is to be expected – but a runny nose that’s green is not okay. If we know your child has been exposed to anything unusual or contagious at school (strep throat, pinkeye, hand foot & mouth) we will let you know.
Birthdays/Treats – All food brought into MMO classrooms must be commercially prepared and packaged, per DCFS regulations. Please check with your child’s classroom teacher about birthday celebrations.
Food Allergies – If your child has food allergies, you must complete a Food Allergy form in the office.
MMO Discipline Policy – Please review the MMO Discipline Policy. Remember we do not share information regarding incidents, or behavior, with anyone but a child’s own parents.
Fundraising – MMO does a few fundraisers throughout the year because we are still paying off the $100,000 loan we needed to bring our building up to DCFS standards and fire codes. There is no obligation to participate in the fundraisers, but we try to make them fun and open to everyone. We deeply appreciate your donations.
Billing – MMO bills are sent via email during the first week of the month, and payment is due on the 21st. We now accept credit card and check payments online, as well as in the office. Please ask in the office if you have questions.
